It is very important that the right subfloor is used when installing a cast floor. This subfloor must be permanently dry, tight and level in order for the screed to be installed. A clean, flat tile floor is an excellent subfloor for a new EPI cast floor. However, the tiles must first be sanded with a diamond sander. This will ensure that the new screed adheres well to the subfloor. It is also important to get rid of the grout pattern of the tiles, this can be done very easily by cementitious or plastic bonded intermediate layers. This makes it possible to place the new floor over the old tile floor without seeing the tiles again. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

It is also possible to install the new EPI cast floor over a concrete floor. This floor must first be pretreated so that this rough surface is suitable for the new screed. Because a wood subfloor is made of a natural material (wood), it can still start to work. When this happens, so can the screed. These cracks will show up as veins or as actual cracks in the floor. This can be prevented by first applying Fermacell floorboards to the wooden subfloor, these boards are leveled and sanded. On top of this comes the screed.
